Two trout ponds and a grill.
Hans built the grill himself, stone by stone. The trout from the pond is on it ten minutes later. Kids love that more than anything on a screen.
We are Dorina and Hans. We run a small alpine cabin in Carinthia — two trout ponds, a tiled wood stove, an IR sauna, a linden tree with a bench, and an open door for dogs of every size.

When the rain comes, the sauna is the answer. When the snow comes, too. When nothing comes, same. We recommend it.
Most years, generous. Bring a basket, go early — we'll tell you where. Porcini too, when the summer has been wet.
The well murmurs in front of the house. Under the linden tree there's a bench — people tend to sit longer there than they meant to.
When the sun drops behind the forest, the fire bowl burns in front of the cabin. The wood crackles, the sky turns dark, and everything goes quiet. That's all the evening needs.
The cabin stands alone in meadow and forest. No traffic, no neighbours. Barking, sniffing, running — all fine. And if your dog comes in wet, that's fine too.
Schwarzenbach, high up the Metnitz valley, on a plateau where the valley ends. Off the main road — the nearest village under ten kilometres away, Klagenfurt just under an hour.
One price per night for the whole cabin — up to four people.
Shoulder season. Trout, mushrooms, long evenings by the fire.
When summer is fully here. Both ponds, all the hikes.
Snow on the access road. Tiled stove, sauna, ski tours from the yard.

The cabin is open all year. In winter the access road is cleared — you don't need a 4×4, a normal car is fine. The wood stove, tiled stove, and IR sauna are all waiting.
Yes, very. Meadow with no traffic, table tennis, sledging in winter, trout fishing in summer. Kids love it here.
„This was our 4th stay at Droneberger Hütte and it was wonderful again. We've tried quite a few cabins across Austria, and we keep coming back to the same conclusion: for us, Droneberger Hütte is simply the best of them all."
